Black Box Garden was an art project executed by Camilla Berner at Kroyers Plads in Central Copenhagen between April and November 2011. This book documents the rich and nuanced art work of Camilla Berner. She pays careful attention to what she finds at the site and records it in many ways.
The building site Kroyers Plads was empty since 2004 and was in recent years one of the most expensive and contested sites in the inner harbour of Copenhagen. In April 2011, Berner began to cultivate a garden from the existing vegetation and materials present on site. Through modest interventions, she registered the nature on the site, and investigated the place as a public space as well as the use of it until the first building activities would begin. After each day in the garden, Berner wrote an entry in a logbook about the work of the day, her reflecitons and experiences.
The project was made in collaboration with the Danish organization for contmporary art in public space Publik.
