Michael Piazza was a very important artist to many people in Chicago, especially those who work in political or socially-engaged ways. Michael was a pioneer, developing methods for working that were highly experimental, included people who are completely marginalized in our society, and have become very common ways of making art today.

Michael has not received the attention he deserves as he was always way too busy giving his time to others who needed it spending next to no time promoting himself or his work. Michael worked at the Little City Foundation's art center, with artists with developmental disabilities facilitating exciting conceptual projects. Michael was also a member of Axe Street Arena - an important political art space in Chicago in the 1980s that sought to break down the barriers between art, every day life and its many struggles.

This book was made by Michael for an exhibition of his work at Axe Street Arena. It is filled with the dense collaged-together obscure texts and images that came to typify his individual work, pre-dating a lot of the later socially-engaged things he was doing. We are proud to offer this small book. We will also be providing it for free in our FREE BOX once we sell all of our copies.
