When publishers feel mutual love for each other's work, why not barter books and help each other with the hardest part of publishing: Distribution! We are happy to now carry some titles from Secret Riso Club. Their archiving of neighborhood business logos in NYC in this series speaks to us and we think you'll enjoy these neat and well-designed publications too. From the publisher:
This publication is part of a project aming to document storefront signs for local businesses and graphic artifacts found in cities around the world. Volume #5 features signs from Mexico City. These signs are iconographic reprenstations of the neighborhood they are in and are marks of its cultural identity. They are often ghostly artifacts of design which connect us to an older city that will soon be destroyed or buried by gentrifiaction and the construction of the new. When isolated from the landscape, we can observe more closely the design and character of these signs and artifacts.
Secret Riso Club began this project in 2018 in New York City and continues documenting in collaboration with other sign enthusiasts.
Co-published with Can Can Press, an independent studio from Mexico City working at the intersection of graphic culture, publishing, and collaborative practice.”
