Tikibiing Booskikamigaag (Ojibwe for "Spring Lake") is a beautiful RISO-printed booklet by Dylan Miner and printed by our good pal George Wietor's Issue Press in Grand Rapids.
An adaptation of a short description by our friends at the Justseeds collective, which Dylan Miner is a part of:
This 24-page Ojibwe and English book addresses the history of Spring Grove, the original site of Flint, Michigan. The book, part of a larger project, looks at Indigenous history in the area, and includes a series of informational writings and relief prints of edible and medicinal plants on the site: Sumac, Arrowhead, Swamp Milkweed, Red Maple, Blackberries, and Cattail.
We also enjoyed this tough little note from Dylan in the back of the booklet: "Historic photographs were found in various archives. Since settler photographers rarely include the names of Indigenous subjects, I have not included the names of the original photographers."
