Our friend, mentor, and past collaborator A. Laurie Palmer gifted us some copies of four different booklets including one from one of our early Temporary Services projects that we published with her. We are extra happy to offer these publications from someone that had a big early influence on our work in the group Temporary Services. Artist and educator Laurie Palmer was a member of the collaborative group Haha. Her work always has a poetic sensibility that is backed by real research, experimentation, and play. This is a great selection of impossible to find publications at a low price.

The four titles included in this set are:

An Orchid S
A booklet connected to a 1992 installation Re: Hothouse: The Orchid Room from Hewlett Gallery at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA

3 Acres on the Lake
"In 1988, the city of Chicago declared three acres of public land along Lake Michigan the future home of DuSable Park - a green refuge dedicated to Chicago's first settler, Jean Baptiste Point DuSable. The park has yet to emerge, however, and it is possible that these three lakefront acres could be sold to developers. In 2001, Chicago artist Laurie Palmer sent out an open request for proposals, and the resulting artwork became an innovative exhibit." This is a publication Palmer made with Temporary Services in advance of a larger iteration at the now-defunct space Gallery 312, and a book published by WhiteWalls.

City Deposits: A Guide to Chicago's Limestone Quarries
A guide to five quarries in Chicago: Chicago Union Lime Works, Artesian Stone and Lime, Rice Stone Co., Stearns Quarry, and The Bridewell. Each quarry is documented with writing, historical and contemporary photos, maps and other images. A fascinating document!

Do you want some free oxygen?
A 2008 booklet with photos and texts connected to a free Oxygen Bar that Palmer presented in public spaces throughout Pittsburgh in a project titled Oxygen Bar/40 Acres, created at the invitation of the Studio for Creative Inquiry at Carnegie Mellon University.
