Josh MacPhee has really been killin' it lately and this booklet is no exception. Spawned, in part, from all of the research he was doing for his great political record labels book, here Josh turns his eyes (and ears specifically toward 1980s/90s hip hop graphics. This spiffy booklet has 80 logos, which range from raw and home-spun to slick and professional, as well as a short essay and some detailed notes. It's as thoughtful as we always expect from Josh MacPhee, but the personal writing about how he arrived at this investigation is also a pleasure to read. Recommended, and something it's likely we may have a hard time keeping in stock just because it's so damn cool.
